Procedure of the determination of selenium in human blood with using of atomic fluorescence spectrometry

Abstract

In the present publication an attempt to develop a method for the determination of selenium in human blood is described. A sample was completely digested with nitric acid and using the microwave oven. Analytical signal for selenium was measured by means of atomic fluorescence spectroscopy with hydride generation system (AFS-HG). The method appeared to be typified by the detection limit of 0,1 ľg/l and the precision (RSD) of 0,8%. Good accuracy of the analytical results achieved in optimum experimental conditions was verified with the use of reference materials of whole human blood and of human serum. The procedure is very simple, fast and effective. It is suggested to be applied to routine analyses for clinical and toxicological purposes.
