Research interests

We use the infrared absorption spectroscopy and Raman scattering spectroscopy to study the molecular structure of bioactive compounds, their derivatives and complexes with metal ions. As the supplementary methods we apply nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy and Mössbauer spectroscopy. To interpret obtained experimental results we carry out the quantum-chemical calculations and molecular modeling.

The current research projects

  • Structural studies of phosphonic compounds (potential therapeutics osteoporosis) and their salts with metal ions.
  • Coordination of Ni(II) and Cu(II) ions to some oxime compounds. Spectroscopic studies.
  • Spectroscopic research of nociceptin (OFQ/N), its fragments and model compounds.
  • Structural analysis of Fe(II), Fe(III), Fe(IV), Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes with 21-oxaporphyrine based on spectroscopic methods.
  • Studies of bioactive hydroxypyrones, their derivatives and complexes with metal ions.
  • Studies on molecular structures of hydroxamic acids and their transition metal ions based on vibrational spectroscopy, NMR and quantum-chemical calculations.
  • Molecular structures of heme proteins.
  • Studies of dissipative processes as the example of oscillating reactions.
  • Hydroxypiridinones and their complexes with Fe(II) and Fe(III). Structural studies.
  • Vibrational studies on differences in the paper structure due to oxidation and hydrolysis of cellulose.
