The conference was held in Kraków, Poland from 4 to 7 July 2005.
The Royal Society of Chemistry Tertiary Education Group was acting as conference advisor.

The conference, which was a European counterpart of the UK conference "Variety in Chemistry Education", was devoted to practical aspects of chemical education at tertiary (university) level.
It provided a forum for the exchange of ideas related to teaching and learning chemistry at degree level, the sharing of good practice and innovation, and the dissemination of outcomes of pedagogic research as it relates to chemistry at university level in Europe.

The conference hold 89 representatives from 21 countries: United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, The Netherlands, Greece, Denmark, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, Turkey, Serbia and Montenegro. Invitation from Chemistry Education Research and Practice

As you may know the origins of the predecessors of this journal lie in the desire to publish to the wider academic community the work of people presenting their innovations and researches at meetings, in the case of University Chemistry Education, the Variety in Chemistry Teaching meetings that have been an annual feature of the UK scene for the past 15 years. We wish to maintain this tradition and will be very happy to put together a special, European Variety in Chemistry Education issue of CERP based on papers or lectures presented at the Krakow meeting, if sufficient contributions will be available. You are cordially invited to submit your contribution by the end of December 2005 for consideration for such an issue.[...]
